This work seeks to expose the biology and physiology of snakes considered of health interest in Brazil, such as the genera, Bothrops, Crotalus, Lachesis and Micrurus and their ecosystem importance. Therefore, the main objective of the article is to present a summary of the issues, snakes and venomous snakes. The methodology used was a survey through bibliographical research in the main databases, Repitile Data Base, SBH, Google Scholar, Scielo, Pubmed, between the years 1995 and 2020.
Final reflections show that studies regarding snakes are still insufficient , and explains how this context is important for a promising future correlating ecology and public health. Keywords: Snakes, venomous snakes, health. 1. INTRODUCTION Snakes are evolved and complex animals, which europe mobile number list present enormous and intriguing differences. Although ectotherms are considered by many scholars to be a disadvantage in relation to endotherms despite their constant energy consumption (LEE, 1997; FRANCO, 2003), they are extremely adapted to the environment in which they live. They do not have front or back legs, food capture and subjugation is carried out exclusively by lunges for venomous ones, bites for non-venomous ones and body movements such as, for example, constriction (MELGAREJO-GIMÉNEZ, 2002).
The ingestion of their prey is another interesting aspect, they ingest the prey whole without chewing, which requires considerable energy expenditure for such an activity and focused on subsequent digestion, which takes time and partial inactivity of the animal, taking into account the greater blood demand in the visceral part to carry it out, allowing the muscles to remain in the background (MELGAREJO-GIMÉNEZ, 2002).
